The second meeting of the Globalization and Central Asia Faculty Workshop will feature Professor Lawrence Butler, Department of History and Art History, who will speak today about the history of the Silk Road. The university community is invited to the presentation, which begins at noon in Mason Hall, Room D1. Coffee, tea, and other beverages will be provided.
Central Asia is a focus for George Mason faculty this year and next. The theme brings together faculty from a range of departments and programs—Global Affairs, History and Art History, Modern and Classical Languages, Public and International Affairs, Russian Studies, Islamic Studies, Center for Asia Pacific Cooperation, and Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution—to discuss topics of global and regional interest and possible curricular offerings. The initiative is funded by a Department of Education grant.
