The Staff Senate is holding special elections to fill five seats that were vacated by senators who resigned during their terms. The vacancies are:
- Fairfax, term ends June 30, 2005
- Prince William (three seats), one with terms ending June 30, 2006; two with terms ending June 30, 2007
- Arlington, term ends June 30, 2007
All of these senators are eligible for reelection during the annual spring elections in the year their term runs out. All nominees must be classified or nonstudent wage employees and are only eligible to be senators for the campus where they work. In addition, nominees are required to complete their probationary period before they are eligible to run for the Staff Senate.
To nominate yourself or another employee, e-mail Linda Fauteux at firstname.lastname@example.org by close of business on Oct. 11. Nominations should include the position (Fairfax, Prince William, or Arlington) and the nominee’s name, e-mail, campus phone number, and campus location. You may nominate as many people as you wish.
Ballots will be distributed on Oct. 17, and winners will be announced in early November. For more information, visit the Staff Senate web site.
