The 2004 fall convocation for faculty and staff is set for Wednesday, Sept. 22, at 3 p.m. in the Johnson Center’s Dewberry Hall. All members of the campus community are urged to attend this annual meeting, which will be led by President Alan Merten.
The university’s 2010 plan will be the focus of this year’s gathering, much as it was at last week’s town hall meeting with Provost Peter Stearns and Senior Vice President Maurice Scherrens.
At the town hall meeting, Stearns and Scherrens outlined the highlights of the proposals from each of Mason’s academic and administrative units. At the convocation, Merten intends to build on that presentation by synthesizing what they put forward and give the campus community a more precise sense of the university’s priorities and direction for the remainder of this decade.
Merten also encourages faculty and staff to share their thoughts on the 2010 plan, as well as ask questions or raise any concerns or observations about it they might have.
“The 2010 plan represents our attempt to chart the university’s course over the next six years. We want the process to be as inclusive as possible because it impacts us all,” he says.
All of the academic and administrative unit plans are available for review online.
