George Mason will hold a town hall meeting at the Fairfax Campus in the Johnson Center’s Dewberry Hall tomorrow from 1 to 2:30 p.m. to discuss the university’s 2010 plan.
According to Provost Peter Stearns, who will host the event with Senior Vice President Maurice Scherrens, “This is a chance for the entire Mason community, particularly the faculty, to have a say about the plans for the university’s future. The town hall format will allow faculty and staff members to learn more about the different plans, ask questions, and make comments.”
Because of time constraints, the individual deans and vice presidents will not be able to present their own plans. Instead, Stearns will offer a presentation on the academic plans for 2010, and Scherrens will make a presentation for the administrative side. The deans and vice presidents will be in attendance to answer specific questions about their areas.
In addition, President Alan Merten will discuss the university’s 2010 plan at the 2004 fall convocation for faculty and staff on Wednesday, Sept. 22, at 3 p.m. in Dewberry Hall. Merten is expected to synthesize the academic and administrative unit plans and outline how they will define the Mason’s anticipated growth for the remainder of this decade.
