Exclusive interviews by Frank Sesno, professor of communication and public policy, will air on Ronald Reagan: The Man They Knew at 8 p.m. tonight on the History Channel. Sesno conducted behind-the-scenes interviews with people who best knew Reagan, including Presidents George Bush and George W. Bush, former Soviet Premier Mikhail Gorbachev, advisors Michael Deaver and James Baker, as well as Nancy Reagan and children Patti Davis and Ron Reagan. Sesno will attend the state funeral tomorrow and is likely to be reporting for CNN.

Jim Finkelstein, senior associate dean in the School of Public Policy, notes that the first piece CNN aired after announcing Reagan’s death was a package Sesno produced specifically for this purpose before he left the network in 2000. “To the best of Frank’s knowledge, he is the only journalist to have covered Reagan as a reporter and later do a documentary on the president,” Finkelstein says. “This gives him a unique perspective, and, as a result, Frank has been a sought-after commentator on the former president.”
