After 15 years of service to George Mason, Louise Equi, fiscal technician senior in the School of Computational Sciences (SCS), retired earlier this month. For more than a decade, she was the sole fiscal administrator in the Institute for Computational Sciences and Informatics, predecessor of SCS.

Equi witnessed the fiscal growth of the institute from a fledgling organization with few resources and faculty members into a $14 million a year academic unit with more than 100 faculty members and nearly as many graduate students. For many years, Equi was the individual responsible for making sure faculty, staff, and graduate students received their funding.

“For the host of graduate students over her tenure, she was the financial lifeline,” says George E. Taylor Jr., associate dean. “Her talents as an administrator and caring personality are the hallmarks of her contributions. The faculty, staff, and students wish her the best.”
