Provost Peter Stearns has announced the names of the Search Committee members for the new dean of the School of Law. Dean Mark Grady is stepping down from the position on Aug. 15. Daniel Polsby, associate dean for academic affairs and professor of law, will serve as acting dean until the search is completed.
Timothy Muris, George Mason University Foundation Professor of Law, will chair the Search Committee. Other members are:
Michael O’Neill, assistant professor of law
Nelson Lund, professor of law
Maxwell Stearns, professor of law
Sara Cobb, director, Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution
In addition, the committee will include judiciary representation, as well as an alumni member. Student input also will be sought.
“Given the achievements of the School of Law, we view this search as vital to the university,” Stearns says. “We expect to have some very exciting candidates.”
The search will be national in scope to ensure the largest applicant pool. The committee’s goal is to have a new dean in place for the 2005-06 academic year.
