The Office of the Provost has announced several changes in its office. Marcelle Heerschap will be the interim associate dean for Student Academic Affairs and Advising Services, and Erek Perry has been named director of the University Scholars Program and associate director of Student Academic Affairs, effective July 1. Stephen Greenfeld, former associate dean for Student Academics Affairs and Advising, has accepted the position of associate dean for Administrative Projects. Greenfeld is working on a major retention project for the university and chairing the Third Level Domicile Appeal Committee.
Heerschap was previously the George Mason dean of admissions from July 1999 through June 2001. She left the university to move to Pretoria, South Africa with her family and husband, who had been assigned there for a two-year tour with the U.S. Department of State. Upon returning to the United States in August 2003, she accepted the position of Banner liaison at Mason to assist in the implementation of the Banner Student module.
Perry joins Mason after spending the last 11 years at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. For the past two years he has been the assistant to the president where one of his many duties included the creation and delivery of academic support services and educational programs for 360 students in three different scholar programs. Prior to joining the president’s staff, Perry worked in the College of Arts and Sciences and the Office of Admissions at Ohio University. Perry has a BA in social sciences from Shawnee State University and an MA in higher education administration from Ohio University.
