As a result of its 66-60 victory over Austin Peay State University Friday night, the George Mason men’s basketball team will travel to Oregon for a match-up tomorrow night with the University of Oregon Ducks in the second round of the National Invitation Tournament (NIT).

In Friday’s game, sophomore guard Lamar Butler scored 19 points and a tie-breaking 3-pointer with 1:24 to play. Sophomore center Jai Lewis added 18 points and nine rebounds for the Patriots (23-9), who have won back-to-back postseason games for the first time in Mason history.

The win breaks a school record for victories in a season and is also a best for coach Jim Larranaga, whose previous top season was 22-10 in his last year at Bowling Green in 1996-97.

The Oregon Ducks defeated Colorado 77-72 in overtime Wednesday night to advance to the second round. This will be the first time Oregon and George Mason have faced each other on the basketball court. The game will be broadcast tomorrow on ESPN2 starting at 11:30 p.m.
