George Mason Men’s Basketball Hosts Austin Peay in Patriot Center Tonight

As a result of its win Wednesday in the National Invitation Tournament (NIT), the George Mason men’s basketball team advances to meet the Governors from Austin Peay State University (Tennessee) tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Patriot Center.

The victory against the Tennessee Volunteers gave the Patriots (22-9) a school record for wins in a season. In the fourth postseason appearance as Mason’s head coach, Coach Jim Larranaga earned his first postseason victory. Mason last won a postseason game in the 1986 NIT.

Austin Peay held on for a 65-59 win in the opening round of the NIT Wednesday at home, extending their home winning streak to 29 games. The Governors (22-9) went 16-0 in the Ohio Valley Conference, claiming the regular season championship, but

lost to Murray State in the finals of the conference tournament.
