Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey brings its 133rd edition of The Greatest Show on Earth to George Mason’s Patriot Center March 31-April 4. This year’s show features Bello the clown and the menagerie of Mark Oliver Gebel, who guides three rings of agile Asian elephants, then enters a cage filled with a dozen lunging, leaping Bengal tigers. In the claustrophobic steel sphere called the Globe of Death, a record-shattering five reckless motorcyclists orbit within inches of each other at speeds up to 60 miles per hour. Vocal virtuoso Johnathan Lee Iverson is ringmaster.
Other features include Bailey’s Comet, Chinese lions, and capering canines. Circus-goers are invited one hour before performance time to meet the clowns and animals up close. For show times and ticket information, see the Patriot Center web site. For tickets, call
Ticketmaster at 202-432-SEAT or 703-573-SEAT, or order online.
Note: During the circus run, part of Parking Lots A and K will house the tents, performers, and animals. Beginning March 29, there will be some vehicle traffic in and out of the Patriot Center loading area.
