George Mason’s most recent Nobel Prize laureate, Vernon Smith, will present a seminar on Iraq’s current political and economic situation tomorrow at 5 p.m. in the Johnson Center, Room B. All are invited.
Smith recently wrote a commentary in the Wall Street Journal (Dec. 22, 2003) on the topic, in which he said, “This is the time, and Iraq is the place, to create an economic system embracing the revolutionary principle that public assets belong directly to the public–and can be managed to further individual benefit and free choice, without intermediate government ownership in the public name.”
Sponsored by the George Mason Economics Society, Smith’s lecture will be followed by a question and answer session. For more information, contact Mikhail Osipov at firstname.lastname@example.org.
