Samina Ali Opens Spring Visiting Writers Series

The Visiting Writers Series, sponsored by the Creative Writing Program, will begin Monday, Feb. 16, with fiction writer Samina Ali. She reads from her work at 8 p.m. in the Center for the Arts Concert Hall, Grand Tier III.
Born in Hyderabad, India, and raised in both India and the United States, Ali just published her first novel, Madras on Rainy Days, to widespread acclaim. The book tells the story of a young woman caught between the strictures of her homeland and the culture of her adopted country. Ali received her MFA from the University of Oregon.
