The Instructional Resource Center (IRC) and GMU-TV of the Department of Instructional and Technology Support Services invite faculty and staff to attend the first open houses in the new Innovation Hall facilities tomorrow, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., in Rooms 427 and 535. Refreshments will be served and door prizes will be drawn.
The IRC event will showcase some of the new tools for online communication and collaboration, such as Weblogs, Wikis (collaborative editing), Neurons (brainstorming), and Pollster (polling/voting), that are available in the recently upgraded Townhall conferencing software and WebCT 3.8 course management tools.
In addition, short demonstrations will focus on a variety of teaching and productivity tools such as creating a web photo gallery using Photoshop elements, Adobe Acrobat 6.0, and cascading style sheets for managing web designs. The new Macintosh-based video editing station for preparing video files for instruction will also be featured.
