University Closes for Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday

On Monday, Jan. 19, all university offices will be closed for Martin Luther King Day. Spring semester classes will begin Tuesday, Jan. 20.
The annual Martin Luther King Celebration will be observed at George Mason on Jan. 29 with the program “From the Courtroom to the Classroom: Our 50 Year Quest for Educational Justice” in the Johnson Center. A prelude by the Anointed Voices of Unity and the George Mason Gospel Choir will take place at 12:50 p.m., followed by a presentation by Theodore Shaw, associate director-counsel of the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund Inc. The event, which concludes at 3 p.m., will also include a kickoff for the Mason Democracy Project and a presentation of the Spirit of King Award.
