University Relations Hosts Open House

University Relations (UR) will host an open house Wednesday, Nov. 5, from 12:30 to 4 p.m. in Mason Hall, Room D217.

UR provides the campus community with a one-stop service for all marketing and communication needs. The unit’s five departments–Community Relations, Creative Services, Events Management, Information Services, and Media Relations–will showcase the services they provide to the university community. Attendees will meet UR staff members, learn about their services and expertise, and can enter for a chance to win a $50 gift card to Borders bookstore. Refreshments will be served

The following is a sampling of services provided by:

  • Community Relations–Speakers Bureau, At Your Service Guide, and external mailing lists
  • Creative Services–writing, editing, and graphic design of publications, posters, signage, and displays; print procurement; web design and development; multimedia support; photography; and business card and stationery item orders
  • Events Management–site selection and scheduling, publicity, support services coordination, catering coordination, and registration processing
  • Information Services–E-Files and E-Alerts, Today at Mason, switchboard and information desk operations; creation of general information web sites; telephone directory; and GMU 101
  • Media Relations–Media Guide, Daily Gazette, press releases, media tips, and promotion of faculty members and programs to local, national, and international media outlets
