Pereira Named CAA Player of the Week

Senior outside hitter Aline Pereira was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) women’s volleyball player of the week for her solid performance against the University of Delaware and Hofstra University this past weekend. Pereira also received the honor on Sept. 15.

Pereira broke George Mason’s all-time career kill record with a 37-kill effort in a five-game win over Hofstra on Oct. 18. Pereira, who now has 2,139 career kills, moved past Andrea Smith (1989-93) on the career kills list. She registered her ninth double-double of the season with 22 kills, along with 16 digs, and she added 5 service aces, 4 blocks, and 2 assists in Mason’s 3-1 win over Delaware on Oct. 17. On the week, Pereira tallied 59 kills, a .269 hitting percentage, 32 digs, and six total blocks. Pereira leads the CAA with an average of 6.09 kills per game.
