The Center for Arts and Wellness and the Recording Academy of Washington, D.C., are sponsoring “A Day For Performers’ Health” on Saturday, Oct. 25. Performing artists, teachers, professionals, and anyone who has ever faced physical or mental strains associated with performing are encouraged to attend. Historically, performers’ health and safety have been neglected, and this event provides experts to help participants avoid career-threatening health problems.
Workshops include vocal artistry, Laban movement analysis, stretching, yoga, repetitive use injuries, and the psychology of performance, including overcoming stage fright and stress management. All 18 workshops are designed to raise performers’ physical and mental health awareness and increase their knowledge of how the body can be used to perfection for their careers.
The workshops will run from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Center for the Arts Concert Hall. All-day access to the program is $60 for the general public and $30 for students and seniors. For more information and to register, contact the Recording Academy at (202) 662-1341 or click here.
