The only statewide public radio program in Virginia, With Good Reason, is an eclectic blend of timely and engaging features and interviews designed to appeal to general audiences. The program will now air Wednesdays from 3 to 3:30 pm on WGMU. The station can be heard at wgmuradio.com and on the Fairfax Campus cable network channel 22.
Each week, guided by host Sarah McConnell, scholars from Virginia’s public universities and colleges explore the worlds of literature, science, the arts, politics, history, and business. The latest in research, pressing social issues, and the curious and whimsical provide the grist for lively discussion in these half-hour shows.
Founded in 1992, With Good Reason is produced for the Virginia Higher Education Broadcasting Consortium by the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities and is broadcast in partnership with public radio stations in Virginia, Tennessee, and Washington, D.C. By the end of 2002 the program had featured more than 800 faculty members from Virginia’s state-supported universities and colleges and its community college system.
