Anh-Tuan Tran was a graduate student in the Department of Computer Science at the time of his death on the morning of Sept. 4. He had first come to George Mason from Vietnam in 1999 to study intensive English at the English Language Institute, and from there went to an undergraduate program, majoring in computer science.

The Department of Computer Science and the Office of International Programs and Services are cohosting a memorial service today at 3 p.m. in the Johnson Center Dewberry hall for those who knew Anh-Tuan. A reception will follow. The interfaith service will be officiated by United Campus Ministries. All are welcome to attend the service.

Two memorial funds are being established, one through the Office of International Programs and Services for the planting of a tree near Mason Pond, and one for a scholarship in the memory of Anh-Tuan Tran through the Department of Computer Science. Checks for either fund should be made out to “GMU Foundation” and sent to the appropriate office.
