Members of the Patriot Project have announced that the new Banner Web Application for Admission went live on Monday, Sept. 22. Undergraduate applicants to the university can now complete the application, save the information, and apply online, almost 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. The data from this application flows directly into the new student system and no additional data entry is necessary. In just one week, more than 200 undergraduate students have started their application process using the new web application.
“Over a third of our undergraduate applicants applied online last year, and I expect that rate to accelerate rapidly thanks to the functionality of the new Banner application,” says Andrew Flagel, dean of Admissions, who notes that the Admissions web site received more than 15 million hits last year and is expected to surpass 20 million for 2003.
“The current student information system would have been cost prohibitive to maintain, and offers significantly outdated technology,” says Linda Schwartzstein, vice provost for Academic Affairs and Patriot Project lead. “This new system will offer our students, faculty, and staff an advanced information system consistent with the quality of this great university.”
