Awards Ceremony Today Honors Faculty, Staff

Twenty-three university employees will be honored today with Outstanding Achievement Awards from Human Resources. The award is granted for achievement or specific accomplishments that improve processes, save time or money, or improve customer service, and result in significant benefit to the university, school, institute, or department. The awards are granted twice yearly, based on nominations submitted for review by the Compensation Committee.
The following faculty and staff members are being recognized in the Johnson Center Dewberry Hall at 3 p.m.: Mindy Barnhart, Sponsored Programs; Page Brannon, Information Technology Unit (ITU); Susan Campbell, ITU; Maureen Connors, ITU; Ken Day, Accounting Operations; Robert Endebrock, Facilities Construction; Barbara Gomperts, English; Harry Grover, ITU; Gail Haller, Graduate School of Education; Chayla Haynes, Orientation Office; Polly Khater, ITU; Jeremy Lasich, Media Relations; Barbara Maddox, Budget Office; Teresa Scott, ITU; Matt Silverman, ITU; Belinda Taylor, ITU; Jose Vasquez, Physical Plant; Wendy Wagner, Fiscal Services; Dennis Webster, Multicultural Resource Center; Glenda Weston, Physical Plant; Pat Williams, Career Services; Reginald Workman, Physical Plant; and Julie Zobel, Safety Office.
Two other awards will also be presented at the ceremony: the Quality Customer Service Award and the Outstanding Supervisor Award.
Martha Reiner, Human Resources, is the recipient of the Quality Customer Service Award, which is given to an individual who has contributed to the enhancement of quality customer service at George Mason, such as exceptional initiative in going the extra mile to provide service to internal and external customers with timely and appropriate follow-up, resulting in demonstrated improvement of customer service and satisfaction. Reiner’s name will be inscribed on a special plaque that remains in her department for one year.
The Outstanding Supervisor Award, sponsored by the Staff Senate, will be presented to Bobbie Fuller, Information Services. The award recognizes an individual who, among other criteria, provides a sense of vision for the department and makes employees feel actively involved in the goals of the department.
