Fairfax Campus Traffic Pattern to Be Affected This Week

Tomorrow and Friday more than 1,200 freshmen residents and their families will be using Parking Lots A and B for check-in and vehicle staging for move-in. Those who normally park in these lots or have a reserved parking space are being asked to use the Parking Deck, where there will be no charge on these days.

The traffic flow will be extremely heavy tomorrow and Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. The Nottoway Lane entrance from Braddock Road will be closed to entering traffic. There will be constant traffic flow into and out of Parking Lots A, B, E, and F, as well as heavy traffic along Roanoke Lane, Mattaponi Lane, Nottoway Lane, Patriot Circle between the Aquatic Center and Shenandoah Lane, and Shenandoah Lane into Presidents Park.

On Friday, there will be also be heavy congestion on Chesapeake Lane leading into the DUCC Housing Area to accommodate University Commons freshmen check-in.

Upper-class resident check-in will take place Saturday and Sunday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Heavy traffic flow areas will include Parking Lots E and F, Chesapeake River Way, Rivanna River Lane, George Mason Blvd. (along the Student Apartments complex), Anna River Court (Patriots Village Complex), Liberty Square next to Presidents Park, and Patriot Circle near these locations.

A number of staff members from University Police, Security, Parking Services, and Housing will be directing traffic in these areas.
