George Mason will host Cox Communication Northern Virginia’s Movies Under the Moon venture July 11-19 on the football field next to the P.E. Building and behind the tennis courts. The event is being held to benefit Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children and a camp for children with cancer.
The following movies will be shown for free on a 40-by-20-foot screen complete with Dolby Surround Sound:
- July 11 – Grease
- July 12 – Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
- July 13 – E.T.
- July 14 – Top Gun
- July 15 – Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory
- July 16 – North by Northwest
- July 17 – Raiders of the Lost Ark
- July 18 – My Big Fat Greek Wedding
- July 19 – Shrek
Plenty of food from local restaurants will be available on-site for purchase, and free parking in Lots A, J, and K is available. Cox also suggests guests bring a blanket or a low beach chair to sit on. Gates will open at 6:30 p.m. and the films will start at 8:30 p.m.
One of the film festival’s beneficiaries, Special Love/Camp Fantastic, is a nonprofit group that provides support to families that have children diagnosed with cancer. Special Love/Camp Fantastic also runs a camp for the children.
