The Office of International Programs and Services (OIPS) will close for the week of June 9 to allow the entire staff to focus intensively on the task of entering approximately 1,500 records into SEVIS, the new immigration tracking system, and preparing a new immigration form for each of George Mason’s F-1 and J-1 international students and exchange visitors. The office has been working on the task for several months, but the Aug. 1 compliance deadline is fast approaching.
The OIPS staff encourages the community handle any business with the office before or after it closes. The office will not be open to answer phone calls, answer student e-mails, handle walk-in traffic, distribute pick-up forms or collect drop-off forms, or schedule future appointments. Instructions on how to handle an emergency during this time will be posted on the OIPS voicemail and office door.
