Today’s Research, Scholarly, and Creative Activities Reception shines a spotlight on approximately 270 faculty, staff, and students of George Mason who are being honored for their awards, books, publications, exhibitions, performances, and other accomplishments during 2002. At the reception, works and awards will be on display, and a yearbook that accompanies the event cites the achievements of individual faculty, staff, and students. Each unit, according to the standards of its field, defines the criteria for the awards.
“It’s a real pleasure to have this second annual opportunity to celebrate research and many successful researchers at Mason,” says Provost Peter Stearns. “We’re expanding steadily in research range and impact, not to mention funding–and not only in faculty ranks, but with graduate and undergraduate researchers as well. The reception offers a way to express appreciation and to find out more about what is going on university-wide.”
Stearns will speak about the research efforts of the past year at the reception, which is held from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the main lobby of the Concert Hall.
