Diana Price, author of Shakespeare’s Unorthodox Biography, will offer a lecture and discussion session tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. on the Arlington Campus in the Original Building, Room 329. The lecture, titled “New Evidence of a Shakespeare Authorship Problem,” is free and open to the public.
Price, who approaches the identity of William Shakespeare from historical and literary perspectives, would like the academic community to accept the question of who wrote the works currently attributed to Shakespeare as a serious topic. The debate includes many different theories. In her writing and lectures, Price focuses on what she believes the evidence shows in helping to solve this mystery and the importance of continuing the debate to ultimately find an answer to the question. Although many groups would prefer that Price align her beliefs with their theories, she tries not to embrace one answer to the complex question of who Shakespeare was.
After Price appears at George Mason, she will be the keynote speaker for the Smithsonian Associates’ April 19 seminar on the Shakespeare authorship question.
