The seventh annual Victims’ Rights Fitness Run/Walk around Patriot Circle tomorrow at noon highlights Victim’s Rights Awareness Week, April 6-12. Faculty, staff, and students are invited to participate in the two-mile event. President Alan Merten will lead the run/walk, which begins at the University Police headquarters in Lot C. Trophies will be awarded to the top three runners and walkers and the largest team. Registration is required.
“Willow Song: In Memoriam” is held today in the SUB I Atrium at 7:30 p.m. The Old Dominion University (ODU) theater department presents a true story of an ODU student who was murdered by an intimate partner. Issues of domestic/relationship abuse are intertwined with scenes from Shakespeare’s Othello. A $1 donation is requested for this event to purchase items for a local women’s shelter.
Victim’s right’s kiosks, which include raffle drawings, free emergency cell phones, and other safety giveaways, will be set up in the Johnson Center Food Court today through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
All events are sponsored by Sexual Assault Services. For more information, contact Connie Kirkland at (703) 993-4364.
