Thomas Bacigalupi is the George Mason Police Department’s 2002 Officer of the Year. He is currently assigned to the Fairfax Campus, where he began working in January 2001, and was previously a security supervisor officer at Ramapo College in Mahwah, N.J.
Sgt. Bruce Jackson nominated Bacigalupi, saying, “In the Field Training Program he has worked to improve the program through the use of technology and has taken it upon himself to learn innovative ways to apply this technology.”
Lt. Joan McCall wrote that Bacigalupi’s “work and productivity as a police officer have been outstanding,” and “the work he has done in the training and background programs has been exceptional.” Chief Michael Lynch presented the award, saying he was “happy to recognize an officer who has performed above and beyond basic expectations to produce outstanding work.”
