The third event in the faculty showcase series, sponsored by the Center for Teaching Excellence and the Instructional Resource Center, features Darren Ritzer, psychology professor, and student Anna Schneider. They will present “Pedagogical Reflections of WebCT: Perspectives of Faculty and Students” on Friday, March 21, at noon in the Johnson Center, Assembly Room A. Lunch will be provided for those who RSVP by Wednesday.
Ritzer and Schneider will discuss results from several studies conducted by three faculty members and one student on student attitudes towards technology in the classroom. Specifically, issues such as how students use WebCT, students’ anxiety levels related to technology, students’ perceptions of appropriate uses for WebCT, and whom students blame when technology fails will be discussed.
The fourth faculty showcase on April 11 will feature English Department faculty members Steven Weinberger, Christopher Thaiss, Kenneth Thompson, and Dean Taciuch; and Lesley Smith, New Century College. They will discuss online tutorials at noon in the Johnson Center, Assembly Room A.
