The George Mason women’s basketball team will be looking for its first Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) championship crown and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Tournament bid when it travels to Norfolk for the 2003 Alltel CAA Women’s Basketball Tournament, today through Saturday. The Patriots, 14-11 overall and 11-7 in the CAA, clinched the No. 5 seed and will play their first game against rival James Madison University at 5 p.m.
If George Mason is victorious, the team could face No. 1 seed Old Dominion University, which has won the tournament the past 11 years, in the second round on Friday at 7:30 p.m. The Patriots beat James Madison in January, 82-57, but lost to them last month, 68-58.
Comcast will televise the championship game Saturday at 7 p.m.
