Poet Jason Sommer Reads Tonight

Poet Jason Sommer, author of the award-winning book, Other People’s Troubles, will read tonight at 8 p.m. in the Concert Hall Grand Tier III. The reading is part of the Visiting Writer’s Series, sponsored by the Creative Writing Program at George Mason University. It is free and open to the public.
Sommer is the author of Lifting the Stone and Other People’s Troubles, which received the Society of Midland Authors’ 1998 literary award for poetry. Other People’s Troubles was also a finalist for PEN U.S.A. West’s literary prize for poetry. In 2001, Sommer received a Whiting Foundation Writer’s Fellowship for his work to date. Among the awards he has won for his poetry are The Lyric magazine’s “New England Prize” and an Anna Davidson Rosenberg Award for poems on the Jewish experience.
