The Safety Office is asking faculty and staff to notify it of loss or damage in offices and classrooms that may have resulted from the recent snowstorm. Joyce French, risk manager, says assistance identifying damage helps the Physical Plant Department make repairs quickly and consider prevention options to limit future damage.
While a waterlogged desk is the obvious damage scenario, French urges people to keep an eye open for damage they hadn’t noticed before. The things most likely to occur from snow are leaking from ceilings or roofs, roof or gutter damage from the weight of snow or ice, and damage that may occur as the snow melts. Once a damage assessment has been made, the Safety Office will file an insurance claim.
