A block party, basketball game, and fireworks highlight “Mason Mambo,” George Mason’s Homecoming 2003 theme, today through Saturday, Feb. 22.

The pregame block party begins at 11:30 a.m. in Parking Lot L on Saturday. Festivities include music, face painting, and food to purchase. At 2 p.m., the men’s basketball team plays rival James Madison University at the Patriot Center. Fireworks at the Mason Pond begin at 6:45 p.m. A Step Show After Party concludes the evening in the Johnson Center Dewberry Hall.

Homecoming activities begin Monday with the opening ceremony at noon in the Johnson Center Atrium. President Alan Merten will give the key to the university to Gunston–Mason’s mascot–and faculty and staff will participate in the Carnival Costume Contest. A talent/comedy show is held Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in Dewberry Hall. Comedienne Meshelle, who has appeared on BET’s Comicview and ABC’s Philly after Midnight, hosts the event.
