In a Valentine’s Day celebration, George Mason women present a special performance of The Vagina Monologues, in the Concert Hall. The play begins at 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, with a special appearance by the Washington Freedom.
The Vagina Monologues, Eve Ensler’s Obie award-winning play, is a series of stories, based on interviews, in which women talk about the most secret part of their bodies. The monologues explore questions often pondered, but seldom asked. A discussion with the cast and professionals follows the performance.
The discussion features Del. Vivian Watts, member of the Virginia General Assembly; Layli Miller-Muro, executive director, Tahirih Justice Center; Kym Jordan Simmons, George Mason Counseling Center; a representative from the Center for Multicultural Human Services; a moderator from a local news channel; and one of the performers.
Tickets for The Vagina Monologues are available through www.tickets.com, the George Mason Box Office at (703) 993-8888, or at the door. Tickets are $5 for students, $20 for faculty/staff, and $25 for community members. All proceeds benefit efforts to end violence against women in the Northern Virginia region.
