George Mason freshman Alyce Williams won the women’s triple jump with a personal-best 43-foot, 1/4-inch performance to set a new indoor school record and provisionally qualify for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Patriots Games at the George Mason Field House on Saturday. Just 11/2 inches off the automatically qualifying NCAA mark, Williams is the first Patriot to post an NCAA-qualifying performance this indoor season.

Sophomore transfer Richard Phillips led George Mason’s men’s team, placing second in the 60-meter hurdles in a season-best 7.99 seconds, just .04 seconds off the NCAA provisionally qualifying time. Junior Wayne Wright was runner-up in the high jump with a leap of 6 feet, 8 inches.
