Prince William Campus Holds Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration

“Remember, Celebrate, Act: The Global Vision of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.” is presented at the Prince William Campus today. President Alan Merten opens the program at 11:30 a.m. in the Verizon Auditorium.

Frederick S. Humphries, president and chief executive officer of the National Association for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education, delivers the keynote address. Humphries was president of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University from 1985 until 2001 and president of Tennessee State University from 1974 to 1985. Humphries has received numerous honors acknowledging his educational leadership, including the Thurgood Marshall Educational Achievement Award, and has held leadership roles within the Florida system of state universities and the National Association of State Universities and Land Grant Colleges.

The celebration also features a musical presentation and a performance by the Langston Hughes Middle School Step Team.
