Build Your Technology and Teaching Expertise (BYTE) Week for faculty and staff is in full swing, with dozens of free workshops offered this week.
In addition to workshops on popular software programs, a new class on Adobe InDesign for basic desktop publishing is offered, along with a new workshop on IT security at Mason. A focus on digital imaging continues, with Creating Videos of On-screen Activity, PowerPoint on the Web, Creating Streaming Video over the Web, Image Capture Using a Digital Camera, Creating CDs, and Optimizing Graphic Files for the Web.
Participants may take individual workshops or earn a certificate by completing a track in either web development or online teaching. Individuals completing a track may also receive Continuing Education Units. Track workshops cover: planning a web site; overview of tools to create web pages; creating web pages; meeting the Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility requirements; using WebCT tools; and tools for enhancing your course. There may be several workshop options under each main topic.
BYTE Week offerings are presented by the Information Technology Unit Training Council, with representatives from the Department of Instructional Technology and Support Services, the University Libraries, Continuing and Professional Education, Human Resources and Fiscal Services. The workshops are free, but registration is required. To view the complete workshop list and register online, click here, or call (703) 993-3141 for more information.
