A recent inspection of the Government Documents and Maps depository collection in the University Libraries found the collection to be in full compliance in all categories of the Federal Depository Library Program, both legal and operational, announced John Zenelis, university librarian.
The U.S. Government Printing Office inspected the collection in October 2002. In the inspection report, Robin Haum-Mahamed, the chief of depositor services, calls the Libraries “an example of a much-improved depository operation.” The previous inspection was in April 1995.
“We did receive several recommendations for improvement,” says Zenelis. “These are meant to provoke thought and action leading to better access of depository materials to the community, including the general public. The staff was aware of these–many were noted in our self-study–and, more importantly, work is under way to act on them.”
