The annual George Mason faculty and staff holiday party is held tomorrow from 3 to 5:30 p.m. in the Johnson Center Dewberry Hall. This party marks the sixth annual holiday event for faculty and staff members.
An array of great food, including shrimp, crab claws, turkey, and roast beef will be served, as well as beverages and desserts.
The Staff Senate will collect toy donations for Toys for Tots and food donations for New Hope Housing Inc. in the Cinema lobby next to Dewberry Hall. Toy donations should be unwrapped for girls and boys, ages infant to 12 years old. Food donations should be canned or boxed.
In addition to collecting toys and food, the Staff Senate will collect donations for family members of a George Mason employee who recently lost their uninsured home and all of its contents in a fire. The family is in need of furniture, blankets, dishes, sheets, men’s and women’s clothing, and financial support to rebuild their home. Monetary donations should be sent to Patterson Rebuilding Home Fund, c/o Fauquier Bank, P.O. Box 561, Warrenton, Va. 22188; or to the residence of 11264 Remington Road, Bealeton, Va. 22712.
The annual faculty and staff party began as two separate events–a faculty ball and a staff party. However, when President Alan Merten took office, they were combined to bring together all members of the academic community. Now the annual holiday party represents a real community event for all George Mason employees.
