George Mason Holiday Schedule Announced

Gov. Mark Warner has announced additional holiday time for state employees at winter break. The revised schedule for George Mason is outlined below.

The university observance of the Thanksgiving holiday will include Nov. 28 and 29, when George Mason will be closed. Although no classes will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 27, the university will remain open for business.

The university observance of the winter holidays will begin on Tuesday, Dec. 24, and continue through Jan. 1, 2003. Employees return to work on Thursday, Jan. 2.

On Monday, Dec. 23, George Mason will remain open. Managers throughout the university need to ensure the availability of support services and adequate coverage to conduct business. Faculty members are reminded that all course grades must be submitted electronically according to established schedules within 48 hours of the examination.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day will be observed as a holiday on the third Monday in January. George Mason observes the holiday on Jan. 20, 2003.

Consult web sites for holiday operating schedules for the library, the Johnson Center, and other units. Classified staff members who are required to work on designated holidays are eligible for compensatory leave for the hours worked. Administrative/professional faculty members required to work on a designated holiday should arrange alternate time off with their supervisors.
