George Mason senior forward Katy Robertson of the women’s soccer team has been selected as the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Week. The award is for accomplishments from Oct. 7-13. It is the third time Robertson has been honored by the CAA in her career.
Robertson had an excellent week as she scored a goal in each of George Mason’s two victories. She had the lone goal off a 30-yard free kick in a 1-0 win over Towson, and she scored the first goal off a rebound of a missed shot in the Patriots’ 2-1 overtime victory against Delaware.
After missing all of last season with a knee injury, Robertson has returned to her accustomed spot atop the George Mason scoring lists. She currently leads the Patriots with 11 points on four goals and three assists, sharing the team lead in goals with fellow seniors Caroline Kent and Katy McGee and sharing the lead in assists with sophomore Sarah Wilkinson.
“Katy has been an integral part of the women’s soccer program since her arrival in Fairfax four years ago,” says head coach Jac Cicala. “We’re very pleased with the recognition the CAA has given to Katy and to George Mason.”
