CNHS Staff to Discuss Distance Education

The Center for Teaching Excellence and Instructional Resource Center cosponsor an event on distance education from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Friday in the Johnson Center, Assembly Room C.
Beverly Boyd, director of Office of Professional Development in the College of Nursing and Health Science (CNHS), will address key issues and share lessons learned in the design and implementation of her courses. Barbara Happ, coordinator of distance education, will focus specifically on the nine online courses offered in the “RN to BSN” distance learning program. Farrokh Alemi, acting assistant dean for health science, will describe how simulcast courses are used in the “Quality Improvement and Outcomes Management” certificate program.
Lunch will be provided for those who RSVP by tomorrow.
The Center for Teaching Excellence and the Instructional Resource Center also cosponsor an event on Wednesday, Nov. 13, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in Johnson Center, Assembly Room H. Minder Chen, School of Management, will discuss how he uses screen capture for instruction. Learn about using simple video capture of a sequence of on-screen activity and recorded narrative to create customized learning modules. These modules can be used to show a process and/or demonstrate a skill.
