The seventh annual Alcanza College Fair takes place tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Patriot Center. The fair, which features more than 100 exhibitors, is an initiative by area universities and organizations to encourage the Latino high school population in the Washington metropolitan area to attend institutions of higher education. More than 1,500 college-bound students are expected to attend.
“Alcanza provides an excellent forum for Latino students from Virginia, Maryland, and D.C. to talk to more than 150 college representatives from all over the country,” says Amy Takayama-Perez, associate director of admissions. “They learn about the college process, how to obtain scholarships, and the numerous opportunities available in higher education.”
