Parents’ Choice, the country’s oldest and most respected nonprofit guide to children’s media, recently announced the Fall 2002 recipients of its vote of approval. In the Audio category, Theater of the First Amendment’s (TFA) original soundtrack recording of the Mary Hall Surface and David Maddox creation Perseus Bayou, came away with a silver label for its “well-acted, colorful Cajun version of the tale.” The committee, comprised of educators, parents, librarians, and kids found Perseus Bayou to be an “atmospheric, fun-spooky adventure.”
“The Parent’s Choice awards are the ‘Oscar’ of awards that recommend products for children,” says Surface. “I am delighted that Perseus Bayou will now have the bright silver sticker on it that guides thousands of parents across the country in their purchases. I know I have always counted on Parent’s Choice when choosing CDs for my own daughter.”
The win puts the Perseus CD in stellar company that includes Tom Paxton and Schoolhouse Rock.
