Fairfax Small Business Development Center Hosts First Annual Conference

The Fairfax Small Business Development Center at the Mason Enterprise Center holds its first annual conference, “Strategies for Your Growing Business,” on Wednesday, Oct. 16, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Johnson Center Cinema.

The conference is designed to provide entrepreneurs with practical solutions for managing a rapidly growing small business. Area small business consultants and representatives from federal, state, and local small business agencies will conduct 12 workshops in the categories of finance, marketing, and growth strategies. Topics include funding sources for small businesses; essential aspects of growth strategy; top-notch selling techniques; recognizing, recruiting, and keeping talent; and refining and focusing your target market.

The keynote speaker is Charles Mills III, director of the Virginia Department of Business Assistance, and the luncheon speaker is humorist and motivational speaker Allie Bowling. The conference is sponsored by AllFirst Financial Inc., BB&T Inc., the Washington Business Journal, the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce, the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority, George Mason University, and the U.S. Small Business Administration.
