Faculty, staff, and students get the first chance to shop at the University Libraries’ book sale at its preview event today. Held in conjunction with Fall for the Book, the book sale is in Mason Hall from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and tomorrow, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Approximately 10,000 surplus books will be available. The books, which are donated year-round, cover a broad range of categories, including fiction, research, best sellers, textbooks, biographies, tour books, and more. All hardbacks are $1; paperbacks are 50 cents or three for $1.

The books for sale have all been reviewed by the libraries, and have been judged inappropriate for George Mason’s collections. The books either don’t support the university’s academic programs, are duplicate copies, contain too many markings on the text, are in disrepair, are children’s books, or are otherwise unsuitable.
