African American Studies Lecture Focuses on Art as Propaganda

Jeffrey Stewart, director of African American Studies, gives a lecture, “Art or Propaganda: What Should Be the Goal of African American Art and Literature?” today from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. in the Johnson Center Paul Robeson Room, 240A. The event is sponsored by African American Studies and is open to the university community.
The lecture focuses on the image of African Americans that is portrayed in various media and the controversy sparked by this issue. Stewart will explore the debate and discuss whether it is still relevant today.
