Classical ballet, highly anticipated opera, expanded family programming, Indian raga, jazz, hip hop, tango, musical theater, and extraordinary vocal performances comprise the offerings on hand this season at the Center for the Arts (CFA). CFA, home to a professional theater company–Theater of the First Amendment–and presenter of international artists of note, announces single tickets on sale for the entire 2002-2003 season of its Great Performances at Mason series, beginning today.
Tickets can be purchased by phone at (703) 218-6500, online at www.tickets.com, or in person at the center’s ticket office in the Concert Hall lobby.
“The 2002-03 season of Great Performances at Mason offers unprecedented variety, with extraordinary artists from around the world, and in many styles,” says Rick Davis, artistic director of the center.
The season opens with the continuing Keyboard Conversations(r) series presented by pianist Jeffrey Siegel on Sept. 22. The Shanghai Ballet makes its CFA debut with a Chinese legend entitled The White Haired Girl on Sept. 28, and the traditional Coppelia on Sept. 29. Virtuoso Leon Fleisher joins the renowned Mendelssohn Quartet for a Brahms quintet on Oct. 5. The Virginia Opera, a longtime contributor to the season in Fairfax, announces the production of four operas this season, up from its usual three offerings.
