Men’s basketball head coach Jim Larranaga announced Eric Konkol has been named a
full-time assistant on his coaching staff.
Konkol, 25, comes to George Mason after serving one year as a graduate administrative assistant with Buzz Peterson’s staff at the University of Tennessee. With the Volunteers, Konkol assisted in film breakdown and statistical analysis of games, practices, and individual workouts. He co-directed the Tennessee summer basketball camps and coaches clinics, organized the recruiting database and mailing system, and was a writer and editor for the official basketball newsletter.
Konkol was a student assistant with Peterson at the University of Tulsa in 2000-2001 when the Golden Hurricane won the National Invitation Tournament championship. He also has experience running summer camps, including two months at Francis Marion University as the camp coordinator and working four sessions as a coach/counselor at the Morgan Wootten Basketball Camp at nearby DeMatha Catholic High School.
“Eric brings great energy and organizational skills to our program,” says Larranaga. “He has great knowledge about the game of basketball and will be able to contribute greatly to our program with his formidable computer knowledge and skills.”
